Tuk-Tuk in Thailand

The Tuk-Tuk was the original taxi in Thailand few years ago. Thai Tuk-Tuk is a small 3-wheel car with no windows. The name of the tuk-tuk comes from the sound their engine produce. In other words it is motorized rickshaw. It is most popular among tourists who want to experience a new and exotic way of transport.

Usually the ride with a Tuk-Tuk is not long. Remember that you have to bargain before you get in, otherwise you will pay enormous fare. The starting fare is about 20 baht. And make sure the driver understands your destination. It is possible to get in 3 people if no luggage present. Depending on the province you can find several modifications: Tuk-tuk Songthaew /a combination of tuk-tuk and pick-up/ Tuk-tuk Deluxe – this variant is more expensive but you ride on luxury tuk-tuk. Whatever you get in, be prepared for a lot of noise and exhaust fumes. Anyway the tuk-tuk is a “must do” in Thailand.
