Thai MRT Subway

The first subway in Thailand was opened in Bangkok in August 2004. It has 18 stations along the 14 miles /22 kilometres/ distance. It is known as “Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line” or “The Blue line”. It has 3 intersections with the Skytrain at Silom/Saladaeng, Sukhumvit/Asok and Chatuchak/Mo Chit. It has capacity of 80,000 people per hour. Fares range from 14 to 36 Baht ($0.35 to $0.95) depending on distance travelled. Аnnouncements are in both English and Thai.

As underground the subway is one of the best and fastest way of travelling in Bangkok. In addition it is cool and convenient. When you combine your trip with the Skytrain you can get to your destination in the matter of minutes. As both the MRT Subway and BTS Skytrain use one and the same ticketing system /contactless with smart cards/ these two are the most efficient and fastest way to get around Bangkok.
