Thai Sculpture
Traditional Thai sculpture was concentrated mainly on Buddha images and some of them are one of the best sculptures in the world representing Buddha. The sculptors who produced the sculptures /and some of them thought to be masterpieces/ made them for religion purposes and did not considered the sculptures as such a great work.
The sculptures vary very much in size - from small handful images to enormous 11 metres statue Wat Si Chum. Actually the sculptures does not perfectly look like a real person. The main positions /postures or “asana”/ Buddha sculptures are imaged are standing, sitting, walking and reclining.
