Thai Music
Thai music is unique for its sound. Basically it consists of main melody and secondary melody to the accompaniment of another background sounds. For western people who listen to it for first time it could be little strange and be like a never-ending mixture of different sounds with constantly repeated patterns with no sense. But if you listen to it more thoroughly you will find out that Thai music can be very pleasant and relaxing.
Basically Thai music is divided into two groups: Classical and Traditional.
Classical Thai music is melodic and nonharmonic and main melody is played simultaneously with variants of other rhythmic units. Firstly it included woodwind and percussion instruments but later were included stringed instruments. Originally it was performed to accompany traditional theater and religious rituals.
Traditional Thai music has a lot of variations but it mainly it represents rural life and poverty. In some aspects it is more dynamical and has some Western sounding.
